MY community is my culture

 C.E.P. Community Enrichment Program

The Community Enrichment Programs of CYNAS 3E are designed to enhance our community through cultural education and health awareness. The cultural education emphasizes the culture and history of the Lumbee people and are open to those persons from other cultures who wish to gain a greater understanding of the American Indian community. The health awareness emphasizes how a person can take control of their bodies health through what they consume. This is accomplished by working in collaboration with a number of local agencies such as the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNC-P), the Lumbee Regional Development Association (LRDA), Robeson Healthcare Corporation and the Andy’s Foundation just to name a few.

 C.E.A.P. Community Education Awards Program

The Community Education Awards Program (CEAP) of CYNAS 3E focuses specifically on education regardless of ethnicity. With the objective of encouraging students to excel in three areas of their school life; these three areas are academics, behavior and citizenship.

Academic awards are based solely on the success of the students in relation to their grade performance.

The behavioral awards target students who have had issues within the school structure such as fighting, bullying, acting out or other problems. This can take away from the students ability to learn and disrupts the teacher and school administration from being able to perform their duties effectively.

The citizenship awards are given to students who exemplify acts of kindness and generosity to their peers and school staff members.

 C.A.D.S. Community and Disabilities Services

Our Community and Disabilities Services (CADS) concentrate efforts on helping individual and families within the community that are dealing with health crisis situations.

Our volunteers led work teams that have built wheel chair ramps for needy families. These efforts are put together by our CADS coordinator and construction workers from local churches and the community at large. While the wheelchair ramps are most needful for the individual they also provide much needed aid to the entire family by making it possible for them to get the client in and out of the home. This also makes the home safer in the event of a fire or other emergency situation.

CADS is also responsible for helping to coordinate fundraising efforts with local churches and charities as they relate to individuals facing major health crisis.
